Juanita M. Keesing

Juanita M. Keesing is the Legislative Assistant and Office Manager for Ietan Consulting, LLC. She is also responsible for monitoring and researching issues of interest to clients, reporting on congressional hearings, preparing materials for client meetings and client publications, preparing legislative updates on issues affecting Indian Country, and assisting in the coordination of projects.

Juanita has worked in the Washington, D.C., area for many years. She brings to Ietan Consulting her skills and experience working with Native American leaders, administrators, and citizens on a wide array of issues. Before joining Ietan Consulting, Juanita worked at the National Indian Gaming Association as a research assistant and office manager. Juanita took part in the Association’s efforts to obtain data relating to the economic impact of Indian gaming and assisted in writing An Analysis of the Economic Impact of Indian Gaming in 2004. Prior to the National Indian Gaming Association, Juanita worked at the National Indian Gaming Commission and the Indian Health Service.

During her undergraduate studies, Juanita held the position of President and Vice-President of the Native American Student Union at the University of Maryland.

Currently, Juanita is working on a master’s degree in management with an emphasis in health care administration and policy at the University of Maryland University College.

Juanita is a member of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe of Arizona. She is a University of Maryland graduate with a bachelor of arts in anthropology with a focus on bioanthropology.
